#1 SimKart Spring (S1) Info & Sign Ups

Postby XSR Race Control » Fri Nov 10, 2017 5:26 pm

Welcome to SimKart's first season of championship action! Beginning in January, we will be racing Automobilista's 125cc Shifter Karts on various tracks, both full size and kart oriented. All of the race events will have a heat racing format to them, as explained in the next paragraph. Most Main races will be 30 minutes or so, but on some occasions we may run up to 45 minutes in length. Our longer races will serve as Special Events, or SE and score points towards the 2018 Grand Championship. For more information on the series check below. For the first season of SimKart action, we will be using default kart liveries to simplify the series.

Heat Racing
The grids for the Heats will be randomized. We may split the roster into 2 heats depending on field size. The results from Heat 1 will be lined up for the first main race in reverse order in ODD numbered positions (1,3,5,7,9, etc). The results from Heat 2 will also be reversed and the resulting order will be placed in EVEN numbered positions on the grid (2,4,6,7,8,10 etc). To simplify things, we will instead tally the points at the end of the two heats and use the reverse of descending order as the grid for Main 1.We will do a Formation/Standing style start in all races. Everyone will race collectively in the Mains. The results from Main Race 1 will then be reversed and that will be the order for Main Race 2. Finishing positions for MR1 will be where you score points towards the championship. This will of course be pre-reversal for the points. There may be mandatory stops in the longer races, but that will be announced per race. In those races it is required that each driver use a minimum of the two supplied compounds or a hefty time penalty may be imposed, however that is only in the races with mandatory stops.
Driver Ratings
This is going to be one of our first steps on our ladder to a gold rating. The highest ranked driver that is not a gold driver at the end of the championship will be considered for a grade promotion of one level, depending on how they fared on the rest of the criteria. One Silver and one Bronze rated driver will have the chance to rank up upon completion of this series, but they must miss no more than 2 race nights to receive the additional consideration for placing well in the championship. The drivers seeking promotion do not have to win the championship as we are allowing Gold class drivers to participate, you must simply be the highest placed Silver or Bronze driver at the end of the season. We are also monitoring skill level of all drivers to ensure they are rated properly. That means that even not being the highest placed driver in the championship of Silver or Bronze status may still lead to a grade promotion if your overall performance across the board meets our criteria.

NOTES
-The Pit Lane speed limits are generally very low. The karts do not have limiters. You will need to monitor your speed on entry, exit, and in between to ensure you are not caught speeding.
-Track Limits will be addressed per event. The limits seem pretty tight as in. We will allow 3 warnings before the game penalizes you.

Where did you hear about this series? I was eating Alphabits cereal and two words appeared: XSR and KART. I took this as a divine sign that I should compete in this series.
